15-Year-Old Lyriii Went Viral with His Debut Release "Respect"

Dancehall has always been a prolific ground for new talent, with Jamaicans embracing trends and fresh sounds. In today's digital era, recognition can come at a young age, and social media platforms make it even easier to gain traction.


One such breakout talent is Lyriii, a schoolboy who went viral with his debut track, "Respect", on dancehall producer Countree Hype’s Fast and Furious Riddim. The song soared to #1 on YouTube’s Trending chart in Jamaica, racking up over 350K views in just three days.



Lyriii, whose real name is Rahiem Brown, recorded Respect with production by ChuckStar, who voiced and mixed the track, while the video was shot in collaboration with Countree Hype.


“Mi always put out riddims online for the young youths because dem a di future. Lyriii showcased his talent, used TikTok, and we capitalized It,” shared Counteee Hype.



The 15-year-old Ocho Rios native is riding the wave of momentum, amassing over 78.6K likes on TikTok before shooting the video.


"Nuff youths voiced on Fast and Furious. It built traction for the riddim and gave young artists a platform to showcase their talent," Countree Hype shared, relishing the viral success of his production, which first gained momentum with tracks like "Wrangler" by Eddy G, "Axio" by Jahvillani, "Honda CRV" by Roze Don, "Toyota Crown" by Teebone among many others.
