Third staging of Shot List echoes the local film scene

The third staging of "Shot List" is set to take place on Sunday, May 26 at Sunken Gardens, Hope Gardens in Kingston, Jamaica. Organized by JAFTA and We Are Parable, it runs from 2:00 P.M. to 12:00 A.M., featuring short films, workshops, and panels to boost the local film scene. Last year saw about 1700 attendees, and this year's edition aims to be even bigger, showcasing talent and fostering international connections.

This year, Shot List receives support from Eon Productions, known for the James Bond Franchise. Managed by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, Broccoli sees the event as a prime collaboration opportunity. She commends We Are Parable's efforts in expanding international exposure for films, expressing Eon's commitment to supporting such initiatives.

Saeed Thomas, JAFTA's President, is excited about this year's event, embracing collaboration for the local film industry's growth, stating, "This is a special year for film in Jamaica as it is the first year of the Jamaican Screen Development Initiative’s $1Billion Dollar Fund for Filmmakers provided by the Government; which aims to support and strengthen the local screen-based industries by providing a pool of funds accessible for the completion of eligible screen-based projects across various stages of development."

Shot List will feature four workshops, including collaborations with Hyphen8 Global, exploring market expansion into the UK and Africa. JAFTA will introduce Lifetime Achievement Awards for members with over thirty years in the local film industry at Shot List. Panel discussions will feature the cast and crew of the recently released Bob Marley One Love Movie and explore the evolution of music videos in Jamaica.

Shot List promises an unforgettable experience for film enthusiasts, providing a platform for both emerging and established filmmakers to showcase their talent and network with industry professionals worldwide. Admission is J$3000.00, with workshop tickets priced at J$2000.00 each, available via www.caribtix.com or through official Instagram pages @shotlist.ja and @jaftaonline.
