Jamaican sprinter Ackera Nugent won the bronze medal in the 60m hurdles final at the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, clocking 7.74 seconds to earn her first individual global medal at the senior level.
The 22-year-old overcame a dramatic moment in the semifinals, where she collided with the final hurdle but powered through to secure her place in the final.
The gold medal was claimed by Devynne Charlton of The Bahamas, who recorded a season’s best of 7.72 seconds, while Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji earned silver in 7.73 seconds.
Following the Indoor champs, Nugent is now set to compete at the upcoming Grand Slam Track series, with the first meet scheduled for Kingston from April 4 to 6.
