Jamaican songbird Alaine shares her excitement ahead of the Queen of Reggae's 60th Anniversary Concert: "Singing for the queen and my country is the greatest gift"
Alaine, exciting to grace the stage for Aunty Marcia
Jamaican singer Alaine joins the star-studded lineup to celebrate the legendary Marcia Griffiths's 60-year milestone in music on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Hope Gardens in Kingston.
The Laughton songbird will be a part of the tribute to the iconic I-Threes at this grand musical celebration spanning the history of reggae. “I love Aunty Marcia. I’m truly grateful she thought of me. I’ve always looked up to her as a shining example of grace, excellence and poise", Alaine shared.
"I was beyond honored to write and vocally produce 'Automatic' for her and loved singing her song at the Caribbean Music Awards. She is undoubtedly the Queen of Reggae Music, and her humility is inspiring. I’m bringing all my love and good vibes to the ‘Marcia Griffiths and Friends’ concert. Singing for the queen and my country is the greatest gift. I’m really excited about it”, the "Rise in Love" singer elaborated.
Hand-selected by Griffiths herself, the lineup features reggae royalty, including the recently added Skip Marley, Nadine Sutherland, and Tanya Stephens, alongside internationally acclaimed acts such as Shaggy, Busy Signal, Tessanne Chin, Brick & Lace, Cutty Ranks, Tony Gregory, and many more. This marks Griffiths's first performance on a Jamaican stage this year, making the event all the more special.
