Jamaica's Alana Reid Wins Gold in Girls' 100m at World Athletics U20 Championships, leading All-Caribbean podium in Lima

Jamaica's Alana Rei wins the gold medal in the girls' 100m final at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships in Lima, clocking a time of 11.17 seconds.
Reid had a strong start and maintained her lead throughout the race, solidifying her victory. Adaejah Hodge of the British Virgin Islands claimed the silver with a time of 11.27 seconds, while Kishawna Niles from Barbados secured the bronze, finishing in 11.37 seconds.
This victory marks the fourth consecutive time Jamaica has won this event. Previous gold medalists include Briana Williams in Tampere, Finland, in 2018, and Tina Clayton, who triumphed in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2021 and repeated her success in Cali, Colombia, in 2022.
Jamaica's Prime Minister, Andrew Holness and Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment & Sport, Olivia “Babsy” Grange, extended their congratulations to Alana Reid following her gold medal win in the 100m at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships in Lima, Peru.
