Is another major celebrity set to buy an English football team? According to reports in the English media, American rapper A$AP Rocky, also known as Rihanna's boyfriend, is reportedly in talks to acquire EFL football club Tranmere Rovers in a multi-million-pound deal.

The proposed transaction involves a £15 million investment, with 36-year-old, A$AP Rocky as part of a group looking to acquire 80% of the club, which has never won a title or played in the top division. His potential entry into football ownership follows the growing trend of celebrities investing in sports teams.

One of the most notable examples is Ryan Reynolds, who, along with business partner Rob McElhenney, purchased Wrexham and helped elevate the club from the lower leagues to League One in England.

Other stars have followed suit. Music sensation Ed Sheeran became an investor in Ipswich Town, his boyhood team, purchasing 1.4% of the club's shares. Since 2021, Sheeran has also sponsored both the men’s and women’s teams, and last year, he became a part-owner, even renovating a private suite for himself at the stadium.

NFL legend Tom Brady has also joined the movement, investing in a fund that purchased 45% of Birmingham City, currently competing in League One. Brady now serves as chairman of the club’s advisory board.
