Rising dancehall star Bayka launched his debut mixtape "Mob Ties" at an exclusive listening event for his fans on Thursday night in Kingston. Despite the heavy rains that pelted the island, the event featured surprise guests and a strong turnout.
Among the artists who came to support were Pablo YG, Jahshii, Iwaata, and Jafrass, along with his manager Nicholas "Zimi Nick" Mahfood and close producers. The event was a memorable night for Bayka and his fans.
The "Mob Ties" mixtape landed on iTunes' Top 100 Reggae Albums chart, quickly climbing to the Top 10 within hours of its release at midnight on Thursday, and currently holds the No. 47 spot.
Five songs from the mixtape are also in the top 25 songs on Apple Music in Kingston. Notable tracks include the collaboration with fellow dancehall artist Najeeriii, "1086," which is at number 8, "Gracias" at number 18, and the theme song "Mob Ties" at number 21.
The 13-track mixtape "Mob Ties" was released through the British label Outgeh Records and Zimi Entertainment, featuring contributions from Franc White of Zimi Records, Sean God, and the British label Fanatix. The mixtape includes a mix of songs for girls, tracks about money, and powerful gun-themed messages, all showcasing Bayka's unique, strong voice and flow.
Other notable songs on the project include "More Gun Than Man," "Clip," and a bonus track called "Andela" with a Latin vibe, featuring dancehall star Rajahwild.
