Big Deal Business: Teejay signs with Warner Music

Dancehall star, Teejay inked a major deal with an American record label, Warner music group, what was described as "dancehall’s biggest deal for the year". The deal sealed at Warner offices Warner Music's offices in Manhatten, New York together the artiste manager, Solid Agency CEO, Mrs. Sharon Burke.


The deejay's consistency has made an impact that got recognized by Warner Music Especially with his latest explosion into the dancehall scene with the viral hit single 'Drift'. “Me Feel Good. a music we a duh from long time and me hard work is finally paying off. dis is just the start. Drift a suh we F+@K up in yah”, the Montego Bay native deejay said.

Guy Moot, Co-Chair and CEO of Warner Chappell Music (WCM) says he is happy to see dancehall music and another Jamaican artiste in this context and on the global rise. It’s the right artiste with the right music and the right time.



The co-chair has been influential with Jamaicans over two decades having worked with ‘Steelie and Cleevie’, ‘Steflon Don’ and having been integral in Stephen ‘the genius’ McGregor’s career.

Teejay (Born Timoy Jones) has one of the summer anthems – “Drift” which is viral on TIK TOK with over 20 million views on songstats and myriad dance challenges. Drift has blown up internationally with the biggest numbers in London, New York, Atlanta and Africa. With a major deal like this one and Warner Music machinery behind him, the artiste’s music will be exposed to sync rights, gaming and sky is the limit.


Solid Agency Boss Sharon Burke chuckles that the deal was only two weeks in the making after sifting through myriad offers and finally feeling at home with Warner. “Teejay will do well because he is a good artiste who is committed to the music and the journey to the top.”
