British R&B singer Mahalia has been active in the Jamaican music landscape in recent months. This time, she teamed up with dancehall superstar Masicka, premiering "Different Type of Love" on Thursday, March 27.
Bringing her soulful, silky voice, Mahalia exchanges verses with Masicka, who is well known for crafting love-infused tracks for the ladies. This isn’t his first time in such a space—his resume includes collaborations with Stefflon Don on “Moments,” Shenseea on “Hit & Run,” and Nigerian singer Fave on “Fight For Us.”
This collaboration marks Mahalia’s third song featuring a Jamaican artist, following “Pick Up The Pace” with Bayka and “Pressure Points” with Lila Iké, which was released in January.
Masicka is currently working on his third studio album, set for release later this year, and is collaborating with major producers such as Major Lazer and Walshy Fire.
