Busta Rhymes Set to Make a Grand Comeback at Sashi 20 Years Later

Iconic American rapper Busta Rhymes to headline the festival return on May 23-26, with organizer Horatio Hamilton emphasizing it's "more than an artistic decision"

Busta Ryhmes, heading to Jamaica once again

Sashi, the renowned music festival, is making a comeback to Jamaica after a hiatus of 22 years since its last event at James Bond Beach in Oracabessa, St. Mary. Dancehall Night, a key feature of the festival known for presenting top R&B and rap acts alongside dancehall stars, signifies a clear evolution in its presentation.

The triumphant return will be spearheaded by the acclaimed American rapper, actor, and producer, Busta Rhymes, aiming to resurrect the enchantment that characterized a bygone era. The highly anticipated festival is set to take place from May 23 to 26, 2024. It kicks off with Sashi's iconic fashion show and concludes with a beach party and a spectacular concert at the Plantation Cove entertainment complex in St. Ann, Jamaica, on May 25, 2024.

The iconic Busta Rhymes, boasting Jamaican roots, is renowned for his deep connection to dancehall. In the past year, he was honored at the prestigious Bet Music Awards in Los Angeles, where a dedicated segment for dancehall featured the participation of Spice and Skillibeng. On his latest album 'Blockbusta,' Busta Rhymes collaborated with dancehall star Shenseea and joined forces with Chris Brown on the single 'Open Wide,' further emphasizing his strong ties to the genre. With a string of chart-topping hits such as "Pass the Courvoisier" and "Touch It," Busta Rhymes is set to command the stage on May 25, 2024, at the Plantation Cove Entertainment Complex in St. Ann, Jamaica.

Horatio Hamilton, leading the Sashi Experience festival, renowned for blending international and local talent, assures audiences of "an extraordinary showcase of music, fashion, charity initiatives, and a weekend filled with entertainment."

"After two decades, bringing back SASHI feels like a homecoming, a reunion with the soul of an extraordinary era. Choosing Busta Rhymes, who was there with us in 2002, is more than an artistic decision; it’s a nod to where we started. This revival is more than a festival; it’s a testament to the timeless connection between SASHI, Jamaica, and the global stage. Busta is Jamaican by lineage, so he connects with the people, and this show," shared Hamilton.

Busta Rhymes' headline performance underscores the festival's steadfast commitment to delivering a world-class entertainment experience, bridging the gap between Jamaica and the global stage. This announcement serves as the initial reveal of the soon-to-be-unveiled star lineup.

While the complete artist lineup for 2024 has not been disclosed, organizers assure that this is just the beginning, with both seasoned dancehall stars and the younger generation, as well as international stars, expected to join. Recalling past events featuring performances by superstars like Usher, P Diddy, Eve, and more, there is much to anticipate.
