Chronic Law, Spice, and Skillibeng Lead Billboard’s Reggae/Dancehall Fresh Picks

Billboard’s Fresh Picks spotlights Chronic Law, with mentions for Spice's Mirror 25 album, while Capleton, Mortimer, and Peetah Morgan also earn recognition

Billboard's monthly Reggae/Dancehall Fresh Picks continues to spotlight standout singles from the genres, highlighting some of the most fresh releases in the music scene.


This month's selection includes tracks from the Queen of Dancehall, Spice, featuring a song from her latest 'Mirror 25' album. Dancehall star Chronic Law lands a spot with one of his recent hits, while Skillibeng earns a place with his single "Boom," featuring Dominican rapper Tokischa. the Veteran Capleton and reggae artiste Mortimer are also on the lineup.



The St. Thomas native deejay, Chronic Law, continues his hot streak with "Dark Up Di Place." Billboard describes it as "another solid gun chune to his arsenal with this ominous banger."


Another Saint Thomas native deejay, Skillibeng, currently serving as an opening act on Nicki Minaj's 'Pink Friday 2' World Tour, is highlighted for his new Tokischa-assisted track, “Boom.” The song is built around a sample of the iconic “Bam Bam” riddim.



Spice, the Queen of Dancehall, is recognized for delivering one of the standout tracks from her 'Mirror 25 album', opening with the powerful gospel-inspired song "You Are Worthy," which brings her right to the church doors.


Mortimer, one of the refreshing voices in reggae, is highlighted for his track "Bruises," featuring Kabaka Pyramid and Lila Iké. Billboard portrays it as"a solemn, reflective track that deals with the bleak state of the human condition and the global Black struggle."



The Veteran, Capleton, who joined the Brimstone Riddim from Sean Paul's Dutty Rock label, earns recognition for his single "Jah Guide My Step."


The late Peter “Peetah” Morgan is recognized for his contribution to Zion I Kings' track "Who Run the World," with his soulful voice still as powerful as ever, as noted by Billboard's writers. Tina (Hoodcelebrityy)'s "Lover Man" and Chip's "Gyalis Pree" are also featured on the playlist.
