1Skimask, signing an international deal
Rising dancehall artist 1SkiMask has inked a deal with the renowned Epic Records, setting his sights on the international stage.
In a joint venture with Against Da Grain Entertainment (ADG Ent.), Epic Records has become the new home for 1SkiMask's talents, marking his first international deal. The signing was orchestrated by Tyshawn “Fly Ty” Johnson, founder of ADG and VP of A&R at Epic, who is celebrated for discovering standout talent and fostering unique movements. Johnson previously signed US-based dancehall artist Tina (formerly Hood Celebrityy), who achieved platinum success.
“I was never one to stay boxed in, and it showed in the people I have worked with,” shared Johnson. “My love for the Jamaican music and culture brought me my first major signing in Tina who would go on to do very well, and everything has now come full circle with me signing 1SkiMask, a prominent name in Jamaican music. He’s a talent that I believe will take his career to another level, and this deal will make it happen. I look forward to guiding him on the road to greater success.”
Epic Records, which was home to GRAMMY-winning dancehall artist Shabba Ranks and Lady Patra in the 1990s, added dancehall star Valiant to its roster earlier this year.
Jamaican social media personality, influencer and actor Valdomore emerged in the trend-driven music scene of the early 2020s, debuting with the viral single "Darkniss." His unique character brought consistent bookings and a strong presence online and on streaming platforms. Recently, 1SkiMask followed suit, setting his sights on the international stage by signing with Epic Records.
1SkiMask is poised to become the next big name from the ADG Ent./Epic Records, while his debut single is in its final stages and set for release in the coming weeks.
