The dancehall icon, Beenie Man, has earned esteemed acknowledgment in the US for achieving the impressive milestone of over 500,000 copies sold with his groundbreaking hit, 'Who Am I (Sim Simma),' an outstanding 26 years after its original release.
On Wednesday, November 15, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) officially certified the song as gold in the US, acknowledging its sales of 500,000 units.
Beenie Man expressed his gratitude for this achievement by sharing the gold certification on his Twitter account.
Adding to his recent successes, the Dancehall deejay secured his fourth Grammy nomination for his album 'SIMMA' in the Best Reggae Album category.
'Who Am I' left an indelible mark in America, propelling Beenie Man to one of his most significant hits in the US and the UK. The track reached number 10 on the UK pop chart, number 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, number six on the rap singles chart, and an impressive number 14 on the R&B hip-hop songs chart.
