Former Reggae Boyz striker and 1998 World Cup qualification hero, Deon Burton, has been officially appointed as an assistant coach for the Reggae Girlz.
The Jamaica Football Federation made the announcement as head coach Hubert Busby Jr. named his squad for an upcoming international friendly match against France.
Burton, who played a crucial role in Jamaica’s historic qualification for the 1998 World Cup, will now focus on enhancing the Reggae Girlz' attacking strategies. Notably, he scored four goals during the final round of the 1998 CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers. Burton is set to make his debut on the Reggae Girlz' bench next Friday when they face France.
Burton made his mark in the English Premier League during the 1997-98 season with Derby County and went on to enjoy successful stints with Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic.
