Us-based Reggae fusion artiste Deportee has been making a name for himself within the musical space with his latest project ‘Bad Mamma Jamma’, a collaboration with Dancehall artiste Ricky 10 who also released the track under his Akbar Records imprint.

The single has been gaining steady traction through constant promotional campaigns and both artistes feel they have kickstarted the new year with a hit.

Speaking with Ricky 10 he expresses how the collaboration came about: “I teamed up with my engineer Zim to create a beat and once the beat was completed I dropped two verses on the track and then introduced the beat to Deportee for him to finish making the track a hit. Since the single has been released, we have been carrying out several campaigns that we have been seeing success from and we are grateful”.

For Deportee, breaking onto the Caribbean scene is a major milestone as he has always admired Jamaican music; “I have been releasing and promoting my music for three years, but I have been writing songs and singing them since I was a small child and I have always been attuned with Caribbean music. I would say my talent was discovered by the Dancehall/Reggae community in Detroit a few years ago. Rev. Cashma Bryan was producing a reality show that consisted of a talent competition of Reggae artistes where I was introduced to the community, including Don Vince, an artist from Ocho Rios who resides in Detroit and brought me onto a stage show in Jamaica in 2019. The rest is history”.

The collaboration has caught the attention of several curators locally and internationally leading to the track being noticed by severage major players locally.

Deportee and Ricky 10 were recently featured on On Stage TV where they premiered the official video and later received rave responses from those who watched their feature.

With the positive reviews they have been receiving, Ricky 10 has opted to follow up with his ‘Melodies’ juggling that will feature both himself and Deportee and will serve as a follow up to ‘Bad Mamma Jamma’.

Other projects from Ricky 10 include; ‘Heart In Me’ and ‘Addictive’ while previously released tracks from Deportee include; ‘Caught Up’ and ‘Getting Back With My Ex'.
