DJ Mac Announces Debut EP 'Ups & Down' Set for April 23

One of dancehall’s top producers is set to drop his first project—a 10-track EP featuring “V.I.P” with Shenseea. “It’s evidence of hard work and growth,” he shared


 DJ Mac to release debut project


Popular Jamaican dancehall producer DJ Mac is set to release his debut EP Ups & Down on April 23. The 10-track compilation features some of the hottest names in dancehall, including the standout single “V.I.P” featuring Shenseea, recorded last year in Miami with acclaimed Jamaican-American producer Supa Dups.


Shenseea has teased the release in recent days, while some photos from the session circulating since last year.


“This project is evidence of hard work and growth,” said DJ Mac, whose real name is Jason McDowell. “But it’s only the beginning, we’re aiming even higher.”


Over the past two years, DJ Mac has emerged as one of Jamaica’s leading producers, working with stars like Vybz Kartel, Aidonia, Bounty Killer, and new-generation acts such as Valiant—who also appears on the EP—Chronic Law, and Skeng. He also plays a role in managing rising talent Tielo Lanez.



DJ Mac is known for producing some of the most viral juggling riddims in recent times, including Chakka Riddim, Fiesta Riddim, and the popular Down Riddim.
