Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal announces his retirement from professional tennis on Thursday, October 10, via social media in multiple languages.
The 38-year-old icon revealed that his final appearance will be at the Davis Cup Finals in Málaga, scheduled for November 19 to 24. This tournament will mark the close of an illustrious career, signaling the end of an era in the sport.
“I’m here to tell you that I’m retiring from professional tennis,” Nadal said in his announcement video. “I’m really excited that my last tournament will be the Davis Cup Finals, representing my country. It’s like closing the circle,” added the 22-time Grand Slam champion.
“It’s obviously a difficult decision,” Nadal continued, reflecting on his emotional choice to retire. The 38-year-old tennis star last competed at the Paris Olympics.
