Jamaican reggae singer Etana attributes her Kenya show cancellation to politics, citing a scheduling conflict with Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz's performance
Etana claims on Sabotge Following Cancellation of Kenya Performance
Jamaican reggae singer Etana was forced to cancel her scheduled performance in Kenya on Saturday, December 7, due to a scheduling conflict with Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz's show.
In a statement released the same day, Etana claimed that deliberate efforts were made to sabotage her event.
Etana shared that she was informed the two events could not take place simultaneously, as they were scheduled at the same venue.“I am not happy about the sabotage, and let me be clear I am not showing up at Platnumz’s show!! It’s all good!” she expressed on her X account.
“My show on December 7 was being promoted long before someone popped up with a show featuring Diamond Platnumz on the same day and in the same area," she elaborated. "Then, soon after that, I heard their show was postponed. Yesterday, they showed up 50 strong at 10/10 Citizen TV media house. They must understand – in Jamaica, showing up with a large crowd is common, so a crowd doesn’t frighten me."
"Then, all of a sudden, I hear from the authorities that the two shows cannot be held in the SAME AREA, and my show tonight cannot happen. All this politics and drama for one girl. I wonder who is behind it all. Why are you so afraid of one show and one woman?" stated the I Rise singer.
With some fans raising concerns about purchased tickets, Etana directed them to the event promoters for clarification.
