FIFA President Gianni Infantino announces Saudi Arabia as the host of the 2034 World Cup
FIFA officially announces today that Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 World Cup. The country became the sole bidder in October 2023 after Australia withdrew from the race.
This will make Saudi Arabia the second Middle Eastern nation to host the tournament, following Qatar's successful staging of the 2022 edition. The bid was first unveiled in October 2023.
Operating under the slogan “Growing. Together,” Saudi Arabia’s campaign proposed hosting the first-ever 48-team FIFA World Cup in a single nation. The plan includes 15 stadiums spread across five host cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Abha, and Dammam.
Additionally, the FIFA Congress confirmed Morocco, Spain, and Portugal as the hosts for the 2030 World Cup, with Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay set to host celebratory games.
