Dancehall artist Flippa Moggela
Formerly incarcerated dancehall artist, Flippa Moggela, has recently been going viral with his hit song “Wah Gwan Bout Yah Man”.
Produced by Flippa’s Flip Money Records and the very popular DJ Mac, the track has become a street anthem and a testament to Flippa’s undeniable energy and charisma.
Born Andrew Davis in Kingston, Jamaica, the artist formerly known as Flippa Mafia partnered with DJ Mac to craft a song that’s equal parts fun, relatable, and entertaining. A hit among partygoers, it was no surprise when the track climbed the charts, peaking at #10 on the US iTunes Reggae Singles Chart on Wednesday, December 18.
This marks Flippa Moggela’s first-time at the top 10 hit on iTunes since his release from prison 2 years ago in 2022 after serving a 9-year sentence for drug trafficking and money laundering. Known as the ‘Flossing King’, this recent success coincides well with Flippa’s usual charismatic persona of living the high life. “Wah Gwan Bout Yah Man” questions the current state of those who claim to be about that life but don’t seem to be able to maintain it due to lack of funds.
Flippa Moggela is enjoying the fruits of his labor and states emphatically, “It’s an honor. I am so grateful and thankful for the support I have been receiving and I’m going to continue to put in the hard work”.
A music video was also shot for “Wah Gwan Bout Yah Man”, with scenes both in the US and Jamaica. Flippa Moggela will be riding this momentum straight into the new year.
