Riding the success of the historic Freedom Street concert, dancehall giant Vybz Kartel kept the momentum going this January with a major project release, chart-topping hits, a U.S. visa approval, and his first Grammy appearance

For over 13 years, the world watched as Vybz Kartel, the undisputed "King of Dancehall," remained behind bars, never stopping his fight for freedom, a battle that ultimately reached a form of completion in December, paving the way for even greater achievements.
It all began on New Year's Eve with the historic Freedom Street concert, which garnered global attention and was covered by major publications such as Billboard, BET, and The Source, among others. However, the momentum has not slowed for a moment. Kartel has continued to dominate headlines and command attention in the dancehall space throughout January.
Releasing singles like "Str8 Vybz" and "Amout", which immediately soared up YouTube's trending charts and claimed top spots with millions of views, was just a preview of his first post-prison project: "The Viking 10th Anniversary" Deluxe. This release features fresh recordings from the Worl' Boss alongside timeless hits like "Dancehall", "Gon Get Better", "Enchanting", and "Unstoppable".
The deejay is receiving bookings from all over, building a packed schedule for 2025, with upcoming performances across the Caribbean and Europe.
Kartel ended the first month of 2025 with an appearance at the 67th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, marking another milestone following the recent approval of his U.S. visa, an achievement that will undoubtedly open more doors for future projects and events.
Although the newly Grammy-nominated deejay didn’t take home the award, his throne is fully reclaimed, making it clear why he is our Artist of the Month.
