Jamaican Artiste Celebrates Dancehall Groove, Spotlighting Ladies, and Major Collaborations with Busy Signal, Yemi Alade, and Charly Black
On his way to Full-Length debut album
Jamaican Grammy-nominated musician Devin Di Dakta has released his second EP, titled "Sophomore," as a precursor to his forthcoming debut full-length album. This 8-track project has already made its mark, securing the 14th spot on the iTunes reggae chart. The EP was produced by SAINTkingstonMUSIC, Dj Slow Motion, Romieikon, and a team of highly talented composers and mix engineers, including Jovi Di Pree and others.
Explaining the purpose of this series, Devin Di Dakta shared, "The aim of this series is to test and also introduce new sounds to the dancehall space before I get into the full-length album mode". He continued, "This project is the follow-up to my previously released "Freshman" EP. All songs for the ladies. Both are different from my other two EPs "BARE THOUGHTS" & "BARE MEDS" which both contain songs based on personal and societal issues."
In this latest body of work, Devin Di Dakta concentrates on the theme of celebrating girls and emphasizes, "'Sophomore' is all about Vibe and energy, specifically to get the girls waistlines active".
The EP features two notable collaborations: "Pretty Pretty Remix" with dancehall star Busy Signal and Nigerian female artist Yemi Alade, and also "Hot Oh Remix" with Charly Black. Devin explained, "Both songs came about by me and my team reaching out to the artists we think would fit the songs. They replied and we began working immediately. Shout out to everyone who played a part. A big shoutout to Crawba Genius, who allowed me to remix his hit song 'Party Nice' with Busy Signal. It's now available on all platforms. Remixing is something I enjoy and hope to do more of."
Devin Di Dakta showcases his commitment to hard work
While Devin's ultimate goal is to release a full album, he understands the importance of not compromising on quality. He mentioned, "SAINTkingstonMUSIC (St.Kgn) my label was created so I could focus on quality control and also properly monetize my work. I'm also lending my music production knowledge to other artists to help them build valuable catalogs. So that's the aim."
Devin Di Dakta's journey showcases his commitment to producing high-quality music and his dedication to both his craft and supporting fellow artists.
