Grammy Voting Kicks Off: Shenseea, Masicka, Spice, and Romain Virgo Among Top Contenders

The first round of voting for the Grammy Awards opened on Friday, as Reggae and Dancehall artists gear up for potential nominations

The race for music’s most prestigious honor is underway, with the initial round of voting for the 67th Grammy Awards officially opening on Friday.


According to the Recording Academy, projects eligible for consideration and nomination for next year’s Grammy Awards had to be released between September 16, 2023, and August 30, 2024.


Several leading Dancehall and Reggae artists have released projects during the eligibility period for consideration in the "Best Reggae Album" category at the upcoming Grammys.



On the dancehall side, contenders include Shenseea's sophomore album "Never Gets Late Here", Masicka's "Generation of Kings", Spice's "Mirror 2025", Rygin King's "Recovery", Teejay's debut EP "I Am Chippy", and Stalk Ashley's debut release "Stalky The Brat".


In the reggae category, eligible releases include Stephen Marley's "Old Soul", Romain Virgo's "The Gentleman", Buju Banton's "Born for Greatness", Bugle's "Apex", and Jah Lil's "Can A Man Cry".
