Icelandic coach Heimir Hallgrimsson has resigned as the head coach of Jamaica after nearly two years with the national football team.
The 57-year-old coach informed the Jamaica Football Federation, which accepted his resignation following a disappointing pointless campaign at the 2024 Copa America.
Hallgrimsson's final match ended in a 3-0 loss to Venezuela in the Copa America in Austin, Texas. Jamaica scored just one goal in the three matches and conceded seven.
Both parties parted ways following mutual frustrations with each other for several months, which came to a head after the tournament. "The JFF would like to thank him for the work he has done, and we are pleased with the coach's commitment to the team. We wish him success in his future endeavors," the JFF expressed in a press release.
