Rising reggae artist Imeru Tafari set to release debut 12-track album featuring collaborations with Popcaan, Chronic Law, Queen Ifrica, and more

Rising reggae artist Imeru Tafari is set to release his debut album, 'Essential', on October 18. The 12-track project includes a mix of unreleased and previously released songs, all rooted in Rastafari culture and infused with elements of Ethiopian influence.


Imeru, son of renowned reggae singer Queen Ifrica, collaborated with several prominent reggae and dancehall artists for the album. The lead single, "Vibrations," features dancehall superstar Popcaan and Chronic Law and was released last year.




The reggae singer also teamed up with his mother, Queen Ifrica, for the track "I Love Rastafari," which dropped in January. The album also features the Grammy Award-winning Kabaka Pyramid on "Vortex" with Iotosh. and boasting other collaborations include "Protect My Soul" with Samory I and "Hear My Cry" featuring T'jean.


In a past interview with Kaboom Magazine, Imeru expressed his vision for the album and his music: "Dancehall artists often showcase the rough side of Jamaican reality. What I bring to the table are refreshing vibes. I want to inspire the youth to achieve greatness." He emphasized the importance of unity, adding, "It's about unity with a sense of spirituality attached to it."



Reflecting on his collaborations during the album, Imeru shared, "The chemistry was great with all the artists."


Imeru first gained widespread recognition with his 2022 hit single "Elevate," featuring Popcaan, which has amassed nearly 50 million views on YouTube, solidifying his place as one of reggae's rising talents. Essential is poised to deliver a powerful message, blending cultural depth with spiritual themes, and is set to further establish Imeru as a force in the reggae scene.
