Dancehall stars Teejay, and and the fast-rising star Byron Messia, won three awards during the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) held on Friday at the Lauderhill Center for the Performing Arts in South Florida.
With his smash hit single, 'Drift,' Teejay won the Best Song, Best Male Deejay/Rapper, and Best Collaborated Song categories (for the 'Drift Remix' featuring Davido).
Byron Messia, the force behind 'Talibans,' triumphed in the categories of Best Crossover Song (for "Talibans" featuring Burna Boy), Best New Entertainer, and Best Music Video (for "Taliban II" alongside Burna Boy).
Dancehall Icon Sean Paul, and Christopher Martin each secured two awards at the event. Sean Paul won for Entertainer of The Year and for and Recording Artist of The Year. Meanwhile, Christopher Martin triumphed in the Best Gospel Song category (with "Goodness of God") and the Best Male Vocalist category.
Rising dancehall sensation Pablo YG who graced the event with a performance, emerged victorious in the categories of Best Teen Entertainer and Most Promising Entertainer. Coinciding with his success, the 20-year-old deejay released his debut EP titled 'Rich N Richer' just this past Friday.
On the female front, Etana seized the title in the Best Female Vocalist category, while the queen of dancehall, Spice was honored as the Best Female DJ/Rapper.
Rita Marley was honored with the Philanthropy Award, acknowledging her charitable endeavors, while Freddie McGregor, who was in attendance, received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating his remarkable career and lasting impact on the music world.
