Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson Shines with Silver as Lyles Takes 100m Gold

Lyle's edges out Thompson in photo finish to vlaim Olympic 100m title with 9.79s. Oblique Seville finishes 8th with 9.91 seconds

American sprinter Noah Lyles clinched the gold in the 100 meters at the Paris Olympics in a super close photo finish, edging out Jamaican Kishane Thompson and claiming the title of Olympic champion.


The defending world champion in the 100m, Lyles won the Olympic gold medal in that race on Sunday night at Stade de France, becoming the first male sprinter from the United States to earn a 100m Olympic title in two decades. Lyles ran the race in 9.784 seconds; Kishane Thompson of Jamaica won silver with a time of 9.789 seconds, while the U.S.’s Fred Kerley won bronze in 9.81 seconds.



Jamaican Oblique Seville finished eighth with a time of 9.91 seconds, joining Thompson in an impressive Olympic debut. Both sprinters now aim to win gold for Jamaica in the 4x100 relay.
