Jamaican suspense drama 'Behind Closed Doors', produced by Kingston's Yaad Boiiz Productions, has been named Best Caribbean Film of 2024 at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF). The festival, held from September 8-15 in Toronto, showcased nearly 100 films, including feature films, documentaries, and music videos from across the globe.
Shot entirely in Jamaica and directed by Marc Anthony Deacon, 'Behind Closed Doors' features an impressive cast, including Shevrado Oliver, Rachel Seaton, Pepita Little, Darron Donaldson, Kay-Ann Dennis, and dancehall star Leroy 'Tommy Lee Sparta' Russell. The film tells the gripping story of a struggling college student (Seaton) who accepts help from a wealthy entrepreneur (Oliver), only to realize that his assistance comes with dangerous strings attached.

The film has been well-received on the festival circuit, winning multiple awards, such as Best International Feature Film at the Switzerland Film Fest and Best Caribbean Drama at the International Black Diversity Film Festival.
Orville Matherson, CEO of Yaad Boiiz Productions, accepted the award at the TINFF gala. “I’m accepting this award on behalf of my entire team from Jamaica who couldn’t be here tonight and who did such an amazing job on this film,” he said. “We had an additional screening here last night and the reaction that we received for this labor of love was incredible. As a Producer I can tell you right now- I am in heaven!”
Plans for premieres of 'Behind Closed Doors' are underway for Jamaica and international audiences.
