Kartel's Attorney, Isat Buchanan, Conveys Satisfaction with Ruling: "Looking Forward to Being Free"

Confirms Kartel's Hope for Freedom After Ruling


Following the Privy Council's ruling last Thursday, which nullified the murder convictions of dancehall icon Vybz Kartel and his accomplices Shawn 'Shawn Storm' Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre 'Mad Suss' St. John, the case has been referred back to Jamaica's Court of Appeal for a decision on whether a retrial should proceed.


Paula Llewellyn, the Director of Public Prosecutions, has stated that her office is readying submissions to be presented to the Court of Appeal concerning the potential retrial.


Iast Buchanan, Kartel's attorney, visited him and his co-convicts at Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre, conveying their satisfaction with the recent decision. "We are waiting for the last document, signed by the king which gives effect to the judgment. people just have to be patient, knows that 'Justice tushed, Is justice crushed','" he provided an update.



"they are elated. they are excited. they feel await lifted up their shoulders, they no longer have the life sentence," he shared some of the inmates' sentiments. "They looking forward to the day in court, the day they will be set free."
