Jamaican Reggae Girl Khadija "Bunny" Shaw has been named the UK Women's Footballer of the Year for 2024 by the Football Writers' Association (FWA). Shaw, 27, who plays for Manchester City, received 53 percent of the total vote, setting a historic record for the women's award. This season, she scored 21 goals in just 18 appearances, earning significant personal recognition.
Shaw was chosen over her teammate Alex Greenwood and Chelsea player Lauren James, becoming the second Man City player to win the title. She is also in contention for the Golden Shoe Award as the league's top scorer.
"Bunny" had to end her season early due to injury and underwent surgery, which means she will be absent from Manchester City's final match that will decide the championship title.
The Women's Super League title race has come down to the final day. Both Chelsea and Manchester City have been outstanding this season, making either team a worthy champion on Saturday.
