Khadija “Bunny” Shaw with the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award
Manchester City and Jamaican international Khadija “Bunny” Shaw has been selected to win the coveted Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Women's Player of the Year award
Shaw played a pivotal role in Manchester City's Women’s Super League (WSL) title race against eventual champions Chelsea, finishing as the league's top scorer with 21 goals, including three hat-tricks in just 18 appearances.
Earlier this year, the 27-year-old Jamaican international won the UK Women's Footballer of the Year for 2024 by the Football Writers' Association (FWA).
"I always had a dream to be the best that I can be," said Bunny in an interview with BBC following her acheivemt. "Each and every day, I try to do that, not just on the field but also off the field, and see if I can inspire young girls, not just in Jamaica but the Caribbean, to show that if I can do it, it's definitely possible for you. You just have to believe in your dreams."
Shaw enjoyed a successful evening at the Professional Footballers’ Association awards, where both she and Manchester City star Phil Foden were named PFA Players’ Player of the Year by their peers.
Charlotte O’Neill, Managing Director of Manchester City Women, expressed her pride in Shaw's achievement, stating, "We are all delighted that Bunny has been voted the Players’ Player of the Year. Her goalscoring record throughout last season was remarkable."
"But her influence, work rate, and example all over the pitch, alongside her desire to keep improving, have been equally important in helping inspire everyone at the club. We are all very proud to see her win this special award."
