The new athletics season kicks off with the indoor circuit as athletes prepare for the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in China this March.

The world's fastest man of 2024 and Paris Olympics 100m silver medalist, Kishane Thompson, is set to make his season debut in the 60m on January 25 at the Astana Indoor Meeting, also known as the Amin Tuyakov Prizes. This event, part of the Tour Gold series, will see him competing against Canadian sprinter Andre De Grasse.

In the women's 60m event, rising sprint star Tia Clayton, alongside her twin sister Tina Clayton, will take to the track, joined by seasoned sprinter Natasha Morrison.

This season also marks the launch of Michael Johnson's Grand Slam Track Series, providing a new platform for elite athletes. The series will feature four events, beginning in Kingston, Jamaica, from April 4-6, before moving to Miami, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles.

The season will culminate at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, scheduled for September 13-21.
