The athletics events at the Paris 2024 Olympics continued today, with three Jamaican sprinters advancing to the semi-finals scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday.

This season's fastest man, Kishane Thompson, cruised to the semi-finals with a time of 10.00 seconds, easing up to a jog at the end of his heat.

Oblique Seville won his 100m heat, clocking 9.99 seconds (0.0), edging out Hakim Sani Brown who ran 10.02 seconds.

Ackeem Blake recorded a time of 10.06 seconds, securing 2nd place in his heat, which was won by South Africa's Akani Simbine with a time of 10.03 seconds.

Oblique Seville, who clocked 9.82 seconds to defeat Noah Lyles earlier this season at the Racers Grand Prix in Kingston, will face the World Champion again in the first heat of the semifinals. Also in this heat are medal prospects such as Cameroonian Emmanuel Eseme and British Champion Louie Hinchliffe, who bested Lyles in the first-round race.

Ackeem Blake will compete in the second heat against American Kenny Bednarek, Botswana's Letsile Tebogo, and Olympic 100m champion Marcell Jacobs.

Kishane Thompson has been drawn in the third heat, where he will face strong contenders including Kenyan Ferdinand Omanyala, American Fred Kerley, veteran Canadian sprinter Andre De Grasse, and British athlete Zharnel Hughes.
