Event hosts with 'Portia Dreams' copies at Kiwanis Club donation
The Kiwanis Club of Helping Hands Without Borders Jamaica (Online) recently hosted a Children’s Book Donation event on October 5, 2024, at Mar-a-Lago Estate in Linstead, St. Catherine. The event featured the donation of Portia Dreams, a children’s book by Professor Opal Palmer Adisa, which tells the inspiring story of former Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller.
The book was distributed to schools in St. Catherine, Manchester, and St. Ann, with the first recipients being Sligoville All-Age and Victoria Primary. Principals Mrs. Carline Bolt-Morgan and Mrs. Annette Steele were present to receive the donations.
“Receiving these books means more than just expanding our collection,” said Mrs. Annette Steele, Principal of Victoria Primary. “It’s about providing our students with a beacon of hope and possibility. Portia Simpson-Miller’s story will undoubtedly inspire our children to aim higher and believe in their potential.”
