Argentinian star Lionel Messi will travel with Inter Miami to Jamaica for the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions League round of 16 clash against Cavalier SC.
The 37-year-old has been carefully managing his playing time early in the season to prevent overexertion. After missing the first leg, Messi is included in the squad traveling to Kingston, Jamaica. However, coach Javier Mascherano has yet to decide if he will start, with the star likely to begin the match on the bench.
Messi, who remained on the bench during Inter Miami’s 1-0 win over Charlotte, is expected to be available for Sunday night’s MLS fixture against Atlanta.
His limited minutes are also influenced by upcoming World Cup qualifiers, as Argentina faces Uruguay on Friday, March 21, before hosting Brazil the following Tuesday. The Albiceleste talisman is anticipated to be included in the squad for both fixtures.
