Blending dancehall and football, and inspired by Cole Palmer, Vybz Kartel's son Likkle Addi's latest release surges high on the charts

Likkle Addi, Merging dancehall vibes with football strikes

Likkle Addi, the second-born of dancehall icon Vybz Kartel, has experienced success with his latest release, "M.O.T.M." (Man of the Match), soaring to #3 on YouTube's trending chart in Jamaica.

Following the momentum of his father's release from prison, Likkle Addi’s single, featuring Vybz Kartel, titled "M.O.T.M." draws inspiration from Chelsea FC star Cole Palmer. Palmer, a known admirer of Vybz Kartel, has frequently expressed his appreciation for the dancehall legend and even mimics Kartel’s signature hand-holding gesture in his goal celebrations. The track seamlessly blends dancehall with football culture, with lyrics emphasizing the importance of capitalizing on the right moment to make money and seize opportunities.

The music video brings this concept to life, showcasing Likkle Addi (born Akheel Raheim Palmer) playing football while proudly wearing Palmer’s former Manchester City jersey. This fusion of sports and dancehall has resonated deeply with fans, further highlighting Likkle Addi's rising star and drawing attention to his promising future in the music industry.

The track's success follows the momentum created by his father's first post-prison release 'The Comet', which has dominated the platform with over 5.8 million views and held the top spot for over three weeks—a feat rarely seen in the dancehall space.

19-year-old Likkle Addi is carving his own legacy in dancehall with a unique sound, backed by the strong foundation of his father’s empire. The video has already garnered over 448k streams on YouTube within just two days of its Saturday morning premiere, quickly breaking into the top trending charts. As the young Palmer continues to make waves, he's scoring big with dancehall fans.
