Mason Greenwood, who is currently poised to switch his international allegiance from England to Jamaica, faced criticism from his Marseille manager following the team’s 0-3 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at 'Le Classique'.
Greenwood has made a strong start in France since leaving Manchester United, scoring six goals in his first nine appearances for Marseille. However, the recent match was far from successful for the southern French side. Starting in the much-anticipated top-of-the-table clash, Greenwood was substituted at halftime by manager Roberto De Zerbi.
“I think he was having a bad day. He gave us a lot of goals and points but when you're at OM, if you want to fight for the championship, you have to push in every match,” De Zerbi commented. “He's a good player but I expected more from him tonight. But not only from him. I always expect more in general.”
Meanwhile, reports in the UK suggest that Liverpool is monitoring the 23-year-old winger. After 12 years at Manchester United, Greenwood made the move to Marseille this summer and is expecting his second child with partner Harriet Robson.
