Pablo YG Revives the 'Riot Squad' Riddim

Brooklyn-based renowned sound system and recording label, MASSIVE B, is bringing back the 'Riot Squad Riddim' by teaming up with fast-rising dancehall star Pablo YG for a single titled “Tun Up The ClubB,” slated for release on June 7th.

Veteran selector-producer Bobby Konders praised Pablo YG as an "extremely talented artist" in the new era of dancehall. "More artists should jump on the project," Konders said.

The "Riot Squad" riddim became a dancefloor favorite with Vybz Kartel's hit singles “Get Gal Easy” and “Ghetto Road.” Other notable singles on the compilation include Mr. Vegas' "High Grade," Pamputae's "Muscle & Gum," Chino's "24 Seven," and tracks from Ding Dong, Elephant Man, and more.

The revival of old-school riddims started last year with the huge success of Rvssian's chart-topping remake project, "Go Go Club," now known as "Dutty Money" Riddim. This project featured popular tracks like "Go Go" by Rajahwild, "Bubble Gum" by Valiant, "Rum Behaviour" by Kraff, and Nigy Boy's breakout single "Continent," among many others. Another top Jamaican producer, Notnice, captivated audiences with the "Street Vybz" remake, featuring hits like Chronic Law's "Weekend" and Aidonia's "Bottles" and many more.
