National Stadium Lighting Problems Persist During Cavalier's Caribbean Cup Match

The third major lighting issue at the National Stadium in 2024 as Haiti's Real Hope defeated Cavalier in a 2-1 comeback

National Stadium once again faces lighting issues

The National Stadium faced its third major lighting issue of 2024 during Tuesday's Concacaf Caribbean Cup match between Jamaica's Cavalier SC and Haiti's Real Hope.

Cavalier led 1-0 at halftime, thanks to a 4th-minute goal by Dwayne Atkinson. However, the second half was delayed for over 30 minutes due to a light tower failure. The game resumed, but Cavalier conceded two second-half goals—Rikanel Cherry’s in the 60th minute and a penalty by Steeve Mondestin in the 66th—giving Real Hope a 2-1 victory.

Independence Park Limited (IPL) is under scrutiny after this latest issue, following previous lighting problems during Jamaica's World Cup qualifier and Cavalier’s February match against FC Cincinnati, which resulted in a fine.

Despite the loss, Cavalier remains top of Group A with 6 points from 3 matches, with the top two advancing to the semi-finals.
