Skeng’s latest collaboration, "Disappear Season," featuring American rapstress Nicki Minaj and dancehall star Tommy Lee Sparta, continues to dominate the trending charts, amassing nearly 500,000 views in just five days.
The track is currently #3 on YouTube’s trending list and has claimed the #1 spot in the platform’s ‘Now’ section. Additionally, it has soared to #1 on the U.S. reggae iTunes chart.
Minaj kicks off the song with an energetic intro, representing Skeng’s Ratty Gang. Released on Sunday, Disappear Season was produced by Droptop Records with a beat by Topalone, while visuals were shot by Lagikz Supreme. The track was recorded a few months ago, with Skeng and Tommy Lee Sparta completing the video shoot in recent weeks.
"Jamaica has always been home to some of the baddest, most creative artists in the world. I’ve been inspired by dancehall my whole career, so this collaboration was long overdue. Skeng and Tommy Lee Sparta brought straight fire, real energy, real power," shared Nicki Minaj following the release.
"Mi always say dancehall has no limit. This song is proof di sound wicked, di vibes powerful, and Nicki just elevate it even higher", further added Tommy Lee Sparta.
Nicki Minaj has repeatedly shown her deep admiration for Skeng, dating back to their first collaboration on "Likkle Miss (Remix)," which has amassed over 9.5 million views on YouTube to date and later received an additional remix, "Nine Remix."
Rowan Melhado, CEO of Drop Top and producer of the "Likkle Miss" track, spoke about the experience of working with some of the most influential artists in music today: "This is the kind of record that reminds people why dancehall is unstoppable. The piano-based riddim gives it a dark, cinematic feel, Tommy Lee brings that gothic fire, Skeng has that untamed energy, and Nicki Minaj? She’s a force of nature. This wasn’t just a collab, it was a movement. And trust me, this is only the beginning."
