Jamaican sprinter Oblique Seville stole the spotlisght at the National Stadium in Kingston with a stunning 9.82-second run during the 2024 Racers Grand Prix.
Defying the odds, Seville set a new personal best, meet record, and world lead, marking one of the most remarkable performances in recent years. Not only did he surpass his own previous record, but he also broke Usain Bolt's 2016 meet record of 9.88 seconds and outpaced Noah Lyles' personal best of 9.83 seconds, with Liles finishing at 9.85 seconds. Kenya's Ferdinand Omanyala finished third with 10.83 seconds. Seville solidifies his status as a rising star in the sprint world.
The women's 100-meter race was also impressive, with rising Saint Lucian sprinter Julian Alfred setting a new national record with a huge result of 10.78 seconds (+1.3) to win the race. Jamaican sprinter Krystal Sloley finished second with an outstanding personal best of 10.99 seconds.
Jamaican triple jump sensation Jaydon Hibbert also shone, flying to an impressive 17.78 meters. The 19-year-old Jamaican athlete set a meet record, world lead result and an Under-20 world lead.
