International dancehall superstar Popcaan, addresses recent issues surrounding the Freedom Street concert Popcaan with Downsound Entertainment CEO, and event Promoter, Skatta Burrell.

The unruly Boss elaborated on the circumstances leading to the issues. Although he initially planned to use his band, rehearsals were dismissed by Skatta Burrell, who later discouraged the band’s involvement, claiming it might "reflect poorly" on the event.

On the night of the concert, access problems caused delays. Despite VIP armbands, Unruly team members were stopped at the gate, leaving Popcaan and his team outside until after midnight due to inconsistent instructions and poor management.

“I was standing with Rolexx when he radioed Skatta to say he was at the gate with me,” Popcaan explained. “Skatta responded, ‘Mi cyaah bodda wid Popcaan and him 100 man,’ not even knowing how many people were actually with me. The reality is it was just my team and Chronic Law’s team.”

Despite the challenges, both he and Chronic Law remained composed, staying focused on delivering for their fans. According to Unruly Entertainment, "Skatta Burrell's prior professional disagreements with Unruly Entertainment seem to have fueled ongoing tension." Popcaan has also consistently avoided performing at Sumfest, citing concerns about the lack of respect for Jamaican artists, particularly regarding their creative input and accommodations.

Unruly Entertainment also clarified that no team member attempted to enter the venue with a firearm, emphasizing their commitment to patron safety and maintaining the highest professional standards.

While Skatta Burrell allegedly attempted to escalate tensions during and after the event, Unruly Entertainment and Popcaan chose to move forward. As Popcaan stated, “It’s a new year. My team and I don’t have Skatta on our minds or thoughts. We’re focused on continuing to deliver for the fans and elevating dancehall culture.”

nruly Entertainment remains dedicated to delivering high-quality music, performances, and experiences for fans worldwide. They urge all parties to foster mutual respect and collaboration to elevate Jamaican music and amplify its global impact.
