Rising talent Qwanza

Rising artist Qwanza has released his debut single, Don't Waste, showcasing a unique blend of dancehall, afrobeats, and pop influences. The track is a confident yet laid-back anthem that speaks to self-worth, personal growth, and maintaining high standards in relationships.

At the heart of Don't Waste is a message of self-assurance and reflection. “The concept was an affirmation to myself that I’m a catch,” Qwanza shares. “Sometimes you second guess yourself, wondering if you’re good enough for that person. This song reaffirms that she will never find another man like me, and she should never let what we had go to waste.” The song resonates with those who have given their best in relationships, only to reflect on how irreplaceable they truly are.

While Qwanza’s lyrical message is clear, the production process also played a critical role in shaping the track. “The creative process was me just self-reflecting on how I’ve always given my significant other the best of me. I started putting pen to paper, ran it by a few friends and my team, and then my producer found the perfect beat. I hit the studio, and here we are today with a hit,” he reflected. As for the visuals, he trusted the creative vision of his team: “This was my first visual, so I left it up to the videographer to align it with the song. Shout out to Kre8 for bringing it to life.”

Despite the logistical challenges of working with a management team based in another country and timezone, Qwanza’s team ensured a smooth production process. The recording of Don't Waste took place in Jamaica, while mixing and mastering were completed in the U.K. Thanks to their professionalism, the project, including the video shoot, was executed seamlessly.

Although Don't Waste is Qwanza’s debut single, he sees it as just one part of his artistic journey. He emphasizes that his identity as an artist is rooted in versatility. “I don’t believe in being put in a box or having a specific sound. For me, art is about freedom and experimenting with different genres,” he says. "People can expect versatility moving forward."

Looking ahead, Qwanza is ambitious about his career trajectory. He plans to showcase his talent globally while continuously improving his craft. “I’m going to keep working on myself and my music, and I believe that will help me become a legend in the industry.”

With Don't Waste, Qwanza is setting the stage for what’s to come. Fans can expect more singles, collaborations, and an evolving sound that promises to captivate. “I’m very open to collaboration, but I believe that whoever I work with needs to share a common goal for the music we’re creating,” he notes.
