Reggae artiste Ras-I has taken home the Best New Reggae Artist of 2024 award at the second annual Caribbean Music Awards. The prestigious event, held on Thursday night, August 29, at the King Theater in Flatbush, Brooklyn, honored the rising star for his significant contributions to the genre.
Reflecting on his win, Ras-I shared, "This award is very special because it's for the Caribbean, the region. I see it as our own. We have to celebrate ourselves before anyone else. It's a great feeling to have my work recognized. Big up to the Caribbean Music Awards and everyone involved."
Ras-I, known for his unique blend of roots reggae and contemporary influences, has been steadily gaining recognition not only as an artist but also as a producer. He made notable contributions to Govana's latest album, The Legacy.

Born Immanuel Kerr, Ras-I has been involved in the music industry for over a decade. He is the son of Lorna Wainwright and has honed his vocal skills through training at Avant Music Academy. Among his repertoire, his most renowned song is "Somewhere Wonderful," which has further solidified his presence in the reggae scene.
