Red Bull Selector made its much-anticipated debut at UWI Carnival’s ‘D’ Aftermas’ on March 15, revolutionizing audience engagement with an interactive music experience. This first-of-its-kind event put the crowd at the heart of the action, seamlessly integrating technology, competition, and musical expertise.

With an electrifying atmosphere and fresh energy, attendees took control of the night’s musical direction, reshaping the traditional DJ performance. DJs had to adapt in real-time to a new voting system, where the crowd used red and blue voting tools to dictate genre battles—Soca vs. Dancehall, Old School vs. New School. This groundbreaking format ensured an unpredictable, high-energy experience, making every moment unique and exhilarating.

“Jamaica has always been about interactive music, but Red Bull Selector definitely took it to a whole other level“

“The vibe in the venue was insane! From the first vote to the last song, you could tell the crowd was locked in the whole way. As a DJ, you have to know how to switch things up on the spot, but with Red Bull Selector, it was even more about reading the crowd and delivering in the moment. That kind of challenge pushes you to be sharp, creative, and fully in it,” shared Travis World. “Seeing how hype the crowd got for each genre just proved this could be the future of live music.”

The night showcased top Caribbean DJs, each bringing their unique flair. Trinidad’s Travis World energized the crowd with Soca, while Jamaica’s Chromatic duo—Creep and JR—delivered a dynamic mix of Dancehall anthems and modern hits, seamlessly blending classic and contemporary sounds. Special guest artiste, Ayetian, took the energy up a notch with his surprise performance, featuring his hit song ‘Balance’. Jamaica’s Brush1 ‘The Road Marshal’ served as host and MC, guiding the audience through the night’s interactive format.

“What made this event stand out was how involved the crowd was. As DJs, we’re used to controlling the vibe, but this time, the crowd was running the show,” said Creep Chromatic. “Jamaica has always been about interactive music... but Red Bull Selector definitely took it to a whole other level.”

Red Bull Selector not only delivered high-energy entertainment but also showcased the Caribbean’s evolving music scene, fueling the demand for more interactive experiences. Its resounding success proved it’s more than a one-night spectacle—it’s a game-changer in live music engagement. With audience participation at its core, the event set the stage for a new era in entertainment.

Leaving a lasting impact, Red Bull Selector’s next edition is set to return even sooner than expected, promising an even bigger and more immersive experience.
