Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz are reportedly set to compete in an invitational tournament dubbed the Unity Cup, scheduled to take place in London in May 2025. The four-team competition will also feature Ghana’s Black Stars, Nigeria’s Super Eagles, and Trinidad and Tobago’s Soca Warriors.
Jamaica will face Trinidad and Tobago in the first semi-final on Tuesday, May 27, while Ghana and Nigeria are set to clash in the second semi-final on Wednesday, May 28.
The tournament will wrap up on Saturday, May 31, with a double-header. The first match will determine the third-place finisher, followed by the final to crown the 2025 Unity Cup champion.
The reports, notably yet to be confirmed by the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), have been circulating in recent weeks and were also shared by ESPN Africa.
Initial rumours suggested that England would be part of the tournament, but with the Premier League season ending around the same time and the tight scheduling of World Cup qualifiers, the English side will not participate.
For Jamaica, the Unity Cup is expected to serve as valuable preparation ahead of the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup, which begins in June in the United States.
The Reggae Boyz squad for the tournament remains unclear, especially with the Premier League season ending on May 25. It is unlikely that star winger Leon Bailey will feature in the London-based competition.
