Reviewing 2022: What is the best riddim of the year?

It is impossible to look at a year of music without looking at her best beat. Some lit up the dance floors, others are fit for melodies. So what is your riddim of the year?

Elevate Riddim One of the first riddims of this year to hit the airwaves. 'Attomatic Records' and the producer, Dan Sky, came up with a beat that fits melodies and the right type of artist collection. Popcaan brought Imeru Tafari into the spotlight with the song, "Elevate", which became popular around the dancehall world and has already surpassed 21 million views on YouTube. Chronic Low ('Nuh Frighten Fi Nuttin"), Nation Boss ('Calm & Steady"), and also Jahshii, Malie Donn, and Star Doll joined in the project with their songs.



Sport Range Last July, one of the projects that scorched the dancehall floors the most this year emerged into the world. A rhythmic beat produced by the legendary Selecta, Boom Boom, and his World Team. "Foot" of Squash, has since become a hit for the dancers with the’ foot’ steps, and it was joined by a bunch of artists, led by 450 (who voiced after the riddim released), I-Watta, Quick Cook, and even Bounty Killer, who jump into the project later.



Upstairs We can't skip a year without a masterpiece by ‘Chimney Records’. The Kingston-Based label has released this riddim with a great collection of artists. The project sends out tunes such as Shenseea's girls' anthem, "Dolly" and "Rich Walk" by Ding Dong. Shaneil Muir joined the project with her strong voice and smart lyrics in a precise message for the girls at "Naturally". Govana is in a collaboration with Intence and also the names of Moyann, Jahmeil, Zagga, and Demarco.



Legend As November began another project was released. Chronic Low continued his impressive year with another great melody on his 'Legend' tune. The melodic project also includes songs from Nation Boss, Jahshii, Shaqstar, Biggs Don, and others.



Dancehall Night Riddim When DJ Frass decides, he Knows how to make it accurate. One of the best dancehall producers of the last decades dropped this project with some interesting names in last July. The main thing is the beat that reminds an authentic dancehall. Stefflon Don, Beenie Man, Mavado, Cham, Jahshii, and Moyann are just a few names who hit up the great instrumental. This is a dancehall beat that can really cross over the Island.



Ambala Riddim It wasn't exactly the release of a project as expected but undoubtedly hit the airwaves in 2022. The ‘Ambala’ Beat was Produced by Hemton Music / 6ix Real Records back in February this year and the main racked already 10 million views on youtube. This magnetic beat also become a routine anthem for each and every DJ playlist over the past few months. the Jamaican comedian, World Dwag took his musical career a step further with his “Knock It” which was released on the same beat. The rising dancehall star, Bayka, was the last to join the project with the latest release of “Sinna Life”.



Code This beat wasn't released in a typical way either but became infectious. It began in March with Brysco's greatest hit, "Code" which was released as a single but immediately followed by another hit, "Gyal Code", that highlighted the rising dancehall artist, Topmann. Many other artists tried to jump on the buzzing beat, Jahshii, Kash, IWaata and Starr Doll are just the names of a few.



Ashes To Dust

Last year the Dynasty Records label, released several trending riddims that put artists such as Rytikal & Jahshii in the spotlight. the emerging label led by Kyle Butler, continued its growth this year as well with several projects including "Ashes To Ashes" that released last June with songs by young artists such as Kraff Gad, Silk Boss, Malie Donn, Rhumba, and Ai Milly with added singles by Govana & Rytikal.



Playstation As one of the top dancehall producers, Dunwell Productions can't pass a year without a significant project. his "Playstation" riddim that was released last September includes a collection of artists such as Vybz Kartel who has a joint collaboration with Stefflon Don, Shenseea, Moyann, Govana, and even Sean Paul. Shortly after the official release of the project, Dunwelll did not leave the artist with whom he has been working closely in recent years, Masicka, and they are a release the latest single on the riddim, 'Like Gold'.
