Jamaica has a new head coach. Manchester United coach Steve McClaren has been appointed as the new manager of the Jamaica National team, succeeding Heimir Hallgrimsson who departed after the Copa America.
The 63-year-old coach and former player leaves his role in Erik ten Hag's backroom team, having previously worked with the Dutchman during his time as FC Twente coach.
"I had no hesitation in accepting a position that is ideally suited to me at this stage of my career", he said.
Former England boss McClaren's last managerial role was at QPR five years ago, and it is understood he will soon take up the vacancy in Jamaica.
The Reggae Boys have been without a manager since Heimir Hallgrimsson left earlier this month following a disappointing Copa America. The Icelandic coach has since taken charge of the Republic of Ireland.
The Football Association of Jamaica has been vetting candidates in recent weeks, and a two-year contract, which includes the 2026 World Cup held across the US, Canada, and Mexico, is on the table.
