Jamaica's new football head coach, Steve McClaren, has expressed his excitement after landing on the island and beginning his new role. Speaking with the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) for the first time, McClaren shared his initial impressions of the country and the immense potential he sees in Jamaican football.

"This country has unbelievable potential and talent. During my time as a technical expert for FIFA, I worked on an ecosystem that analyzed every country in the world. Jamaica was among the 20 countries I analyzed, and it was always on the back of my mind because of the potential and talent here," McClaren revealed.

He praised the efforts of those who came before him, stating, "The committee, the staff, the coaches, and the previous coach have done a great job. It's my job now to take the baton and carry that on."

McClaren also expressed his admiration for the island, describing it as "a beautiful place—the mountains, the football pitch—there couldn't be a better place to be."

The new coach is energized and ready to get to work. "I'm excited from day one," he said, noting that he has already found a few players, watched some games, and is gearing up for Jamaica's upcoming match against Cuba on September 6th on The CONCACAF Nations League.
