Shenseea, Definitely among the hottest female artistes in the dancehall and music industry

The women of the dancehall were on fire this year. From several hit releases to album drops and amazing performances, it is safe to say they came back with a vengeance following the COVID-19 pandemic. Jamaica and the world sang along to their tunes and they provided quality entertainment. Though all were at the top of their game for 2022, it is up to you to vote to determine who is the female artiste of the year.

Shenseea

Definitely among the hottest female artistes in the dancehall and music industry right now, 2022 was a massive year for this Jamaican SingJay. In March of this year, she released her debut album- Alpha- which is a blend of dancehall, hip hop, and R&B. The compilation also featured collaborations with international recording artiste, Offset, 21 Savage, Tyga and Megan Thee Stallion which furthered her push to becoming a leading Jamaican crossover artiste. But Shen did not stop there, the Dolly Deejay also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live as well as several other social appearances as she cements herself in the international music market. Shenseea also made certain to give a stellar performance at Reggae Sumfest for her Jamaican fan in July.

Spice

Officially the Queen of the Dancehall, following the crowning at the 2022 staging of Reggae Sumfest, Spice has enjoyed the fruits of her labor.

Though unfortunately missed out on the Reggae Grammy Award for her first album, 'TEN', after several issues preventing an album release, she still reigned supreme.

This year she released her second album, Emancipation. This year she was also featured on the 'Fine9 Remix' with Nicki Minaj.

Of course, she also maintained her status as a reality TV Star through her work of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta as well as an entrepreneur with her brand Grace Noir. Unfortunately, she faced some medical issues recently, but that by no means dampens the great year she has had in the business. She also again hosted her back-to-school treat in Kingston Jamaica to give back to her supporters whom she dubs ‘besties’.

Jada Kingdom

Jada Kingdom was not to be outdone this year, booking shows after shows as she aimed to take her career to the next level. Certainly, making strides, she was featured on the track Speak To Me In Tongues alongside global star John Legend. Having a smash on her hands with GPP that became a viral TikTok sound, she was also able to infiltrate a new base of music lovers. The track has over 5 million views on Youtube.

Shaneil Muir

Shaneil Muir, who hails from Montego Bay Jamaica also had an extraordinary year in the industry. The ‘Top Gyal’ who has been holding firm in her mission to make her music known and remain authentic took the nation by storm with tracks such as 'Yamabella' and Same Guy.

But this year she returned to her hometown to show Jamaican what she is really made of during her Sumfest performance. Arguably among the best of Festival Night two. With tracks such as 'Justice', 'Born Rich', and 'Ride It' released this year, she certainly maintained a high standard in the business.

Koffee The grateful and gifted “Grammy-Kid” is definitely among the top-performing women of 2022. Earlier this year she released the Gifted Album which received great reviews from fans and the public. It is also nominated for a Grammy come next year. Locking down performance after performance, the West Indies singer is currently on tour opening for international superstar Harry Styles. She also performed at North American Festival, Coachella.

Lila Ike Lila Ike, another product of the Manchester Parish, continues to make her mark as one of the leading forces in the Jamaican reggae and culture scene.

we already included her name in the Reggae Artiste of the Year category, but with a burgeoning music catalog that includes songs like 'Wanted' and her latest release, 'Dinero', this rising star is a definite natural talent.
